With the spring sports season just around the corner, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks hosted their annual winter golf clinic, Saturday, February 24th, at the Indoor Facility on the campus of Mid-Prairie High School.

Nearly 100 local athletes from 12 different schools including Washington and Mid-Prairie, got to work with instructors including University of Northern Iowa head coach John Bermel, Wartburg College head women’s coach John Thompson and professionals Jeff Schmid and Steve Ihm, Austin Koop of Golfletics in Coralville and Jeff Dickerson with GIVE (Golf for Injured Veterans Everywhere).

The goal of the event is to give high school teams an opportunity for one-on-one instruction and tips to prepare for the upcoming season. Participants got help with their full swing, short game and putting.

The Golden Hawk boys and girls start their season Monday, March 25th with River Valley Conference dual meets against Iowa City Regina. The Demons open the year Monday, April 1st with Southeast Conference boys and girls duals against Fairfield.
