The deadline to pre-register for the Brighton Special Election is today, according to a release from Washington County Auditor Dan Widmer. Voters who need to pre-register have until 5 p.m. on Monday, March 11.

The election, which is Tuesday, March 26, is for a vacancy on the Brighton City Council. Cathy Rich is the only name on the ballot, so a vote for anyone else will need to be written in. Registration on or before the 5 p.m. deadline today is encouraged to prevent delays on election day. Anyone eligible to vote may register in person on election day, but this will require the voter to complete an application, make a written oath, and provide proof of identity and residence. Worry-free postmarks for registration forms by mail would be Monday, March 11 as well.

Brighton residents may register at the County Auditor’s Office or at any driver’s license station. The Auditor’s office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and can be reached at 319-653-7717. For online registration, click here
