On Monday, a small bridge on Larch Avenue, between 315th and 325th Streets, near Coppock, was closed to traffic. After routine inspection of the structure showed there was significant damage to the south abutment/back wall, and with the concern of it tipping, for the safety of the traveling public, the bridge was closed. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius stated, “We closed a bridge on Larch Avenue, between 315th and 325th St. It is a level B road. It was posted at three tonnes, after looking at it, it needed to be closed. It’s closed right now, so we can determine options.” Washington County will work to review all options for this structure as it relates to the local area and as a whole with regard to the County’s transportation network. In the meantime, the structure will remain closed as the County Engineer’s Office works on determining the next steps.
