The Washington County Board of Supervisors discussed a Wellman personal property purchase agreement and ground lease agreement related to the Wellman communications tower location at their Tuesday meeting. Supervisor Richard Young and Washington County 911 Dispatch Supervisor Cara Sorrells give more information on the agreements, “So this is so we can get that tower put up, back up in Wellman. And they clarified that we would not need to purchase it until it was built, they gave us about a four month window, so they said April 1st, we are into the next fiscal year to pay for it. Next is the ground lease agreement to go through 2039, right? Right, it was mentioned that you would feel more comfortable with a twenty-five year lease and I asked them, they said that’s fine.” The Supervisors approved both agreements unanimously. Replacement of the Wellman county-wide communication tower is needed following damage to the equipment during tornadoes that struck Washington County March 31st of last year.
