Legendary Hillcrest Academy head boys basketball coach Dwight Gingerich will be on the sideline this March. Gingerich, who was recently inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2024, has been tapped to coach the Southeast Iowa All-Stars at this weekend’s 2024 Iowa Basketball Coaches Association Pizza Ranch All-Star Games at Dallas Center Grimes High School.

Gingerich, who just led Hillcrest Academy to a 15-8 record, will handle the coaching duties with Ryan Wilson of Fort Madison. His team this weekend includes Derek Weisskopf of Williamsburg, Demarion Honaker from Camanche, Tyson De Vries from Pella Christian, AJ Wright from City High, Michael Martin of Iowa City Regina, Jake Benzing from Solon, Jack Cooley from Clarke of Osceola, Trey Hughes of Iowa City Liberty, Holden Arnaman from West Branch, Jacob Koch from Iowa City West, Caden Wilkins of Bettendorf and Keota’s own Sawyer Stout.

Boys action gets underway with the Southeast All-Stars matching up against the Northeast team while the Northwest and Southwest squads square off. Championship and consolation games will both be played, with three point contests, Class Player of the Year Awards, Spirit Squads and more during the day.

In the girls edition of the event that same weekend, Highland star Sarah Burton will participate on the Southeast All-Star team.

The Pizza Ranch All-Star Series began in 2007. Action takes place this Saturday at Dallas Center-Grimes High School.
