Sigourney-Keota soccer will be trying to bottle the momentum from their first half of last season and carry it all the way through this spring. SK’s 6-2 start was marred by four losses in their final six matches of 2023, but there are young players ready to avoid that downturn while stepping into bigger roles this year.

The sophomore class will be leading the way for Sigourney-Keota. Jackson Vittetoe, Chase Haifley and Gavin Khali all return after playing in almost every game last season and combining for 10 goals scored and five assists. New SK head coach Alex Holt tells KCII Sports that trio of second-year players will be a big part of how his team attacks.

“Our expectation is for those three to probably double that production,” Holt says. “They’re going to be on the field a lot more. That group right there, that’s going to be our leaders. We’re expecting big things from them.”

Seniors like Kale Clarahan and Carter Wyatt also return after combining to score five goals last year for Sigourney-Keota, which will play its first game of the 2024 season Tuesday at Prairie City-Monroe.
