Today, for Severe Weather Awareness Week the focus is wind and hail. KCII News spoke with Washington County Emergency Management Coordinator Marissa Reisen to learn more about wind and hail safety, here are some of her recommendations, “The big thing that I really wanted to hit on for hail and wind safety is, a friendly reminder that a few years ago, Washington County changed our protocol for the outdoor warning sirens. So if the outdoor warning sirens go off, you might assume tornado, but that is not necessarily the case. The sirens will be sounded also for hail two inches or greater in diameter, as well as winds over seventy miles an hour.” This week is highlighted each year as a reminder to prepare and stay informed about the unpredictable forces of nature.
