The Washington Demon girls’ golf team finally got its season underway yesterday at Fairfield Golf & Country Club. Washington finished third out of five teams, but the team score of 226 strokes was only six away from winning the Southeast Conference meet.
Maci Williams led the Demons by shooting a 17-over-par 49 and finished third overall on the individual leaderboard. Fellow senior Natalie Prochaska was eighth overall by firing a 54, while senior Reagan Stouder shot 57.
The Washington boys’ first meet of the season was against postponed due to inclement course conditions in Fort Madison. Both Demon teams are slated to play on Monday, with the boys traveling to Keokuk while the girls will try their hand at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Park in Fort Madison.
