The Washington Fire Department hosted a special event on April 3rd, as they welcomed retired firefighters to a dinner event aimed at celebrating their contributions and fostering bonds between past and present members of the department. The event, held at the department’s new station, provided an opportunity for retired firefighters to witness firsthand the significant growth and development that has taken place within the department in recent years. With the station expanding from 9400 to over 25,000 square feet since 2018. Attendees were treated to a meal prepared by current firefighters from the Social Committee. The evening was filled with laughter and storytelling, as both old and new firefighters shared tales of their experiences on the job. The event concluded with Chief DeLong expressing his desire to make such gatherings a more regular occurrence, a sentiment that was met with enthusiasm from the retired firefighters in attendance.
