The Washington Demons finally got the new boys’ golf season underway by winning a Southeast Conference meet yesterday at Elks Fairview Golf Course in Keokuk. Washington’s team score of 145 strokes was 26 better than second-place Mount Pleasant and 36 less than third-place Fort Madison.
Roman Roth began his senior season with another individual victory. The defending Class 3A state champion led Washington and was the meet medalist after a two-under-par round of 34. Rajan Roth was only one stroke behind him, and fellow sophomore Drew Conrad shot a one-over 37.
Teague Mayer was three over with a 39 for the Demons, while fellow senior Luke Beenblossom shot 42 and junior Cole Vetter finished with a 47. Washington has now won every Southeast Conference meet that they have participated in since May of 2022.
The Demon girls finished fifth at their conference meet at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Park in Fort Madison. Senior Maci Williams paced Washington and finished fourth overall by shooting 46, while sophomore Presley Hora fired a 59 for the Demons.
