KCII News spoke with US Senator Chuck Grassley on the current status of the five year farm bill, “I want Iowans to know that the status of the farm bill is not very good. Now, if they’ve heard just by chance, people might hear it looks like there could be a bill coming out of the House Agriculture Committee. I want to thank the House Agriculture Committee for doing it, but I don’t think it’s going to have much impact on some disagreements in the United States Senate. So I don’t think we are going to get a five-year farm bill, so we’ll have a one-year extension.” The last time the five-year farm bill was passed was in 2018, making this a seven-year farm bill. Historically, the Farm Bill has been one of the most bipartisan bills that Congress passes.
