The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls and boys track teams were in action Tuesday at the Blue Raider Co-Ed Relays at Anamosa. The Golden Hawk girls had the top finish, taking second as a team with 141 points. Mount Vernon won the championship with 174. The Hawks had three event titles on the night including Jovi Evans winning the 200 in 26.41 seconds. In relays, the Golden Hawk sprint medley team of Dakota Mitchell, Myli Hershberger, Emma Lueck and Evans was a winner in 1:53.65, as was the distance medley with Mitchell, Lueck, Greta Sieren and Danielle Hostetler in 4:17.43, a new meet record. Other top performances included Hostetler runner-up in the 1500, second for Evans in the 100, Sieren runner-up in the 800, Behla Schmidt second in the 100 hurdles, runner-up for the shuttle hurdle with Sophie Miller, Olivia Schlabach, Nora Pennington and Schmidt, second for the 4×100 with Mitchell, Hershberger, Lueck and Evans, Abby Fleming fourth in the 1500, fourth for the 4×800 team of Annika Poll, Hannah Rodgers, Fleming and Rebekah Wallington, fourth for the throwers relay with Ashley Harmsen, Harper Pacha, Taylor Pence and Dessa Poll, Phoebe Shetler fifth in the 3000, Miller fifth in the 100 hurdles, and Poll fifth in the 400 hurdles.
The Mid-Prairie boys were sixth with their overall score of 62. Central DeWitt won the team title with 132 points. The Hawks had four event championships on the night with Jayden Stafford winning the wheelchair 100 in 18.24 seconds, the 200 in 33.12 seconds a new meet record, the 400 in 1:03.79, a new meet record, and the 800 in 2:12.48. Other top performances included Jayse Yoder runner-up in the 400 and the mile, third for the throwers relay with Kaden Kos, Burke Berry, Tommy Miller and Conner Wiles, Preston Yutzy fourth in the mile, fourth for the 4×800 team of Emmett Swartzentruber, Thomas Flynn, Yutzy and Johnathon Pickard, and fourth for the distance medley of Nolan Jergens, Dylan Henry, Peyton Fox and Swartzentruber.
The Golden Hawks will have several athletes in action over the weekend at the Drake Relays in Des Moines. Friday features Jayden Stafford going for another Drake Relays title in the wheelchair 400 and Emma Lueck in long jump. Saturday showcases Danielle Hostetler in the 1500 and the girls 4×100 team.
