For the second time in as many years, the Washington County Pork Producers donated $1,000 worth of pork within the County as part of the Pork in the Pantry Program.
The program was created by the Iowa Pork Producers Association and provides funding to county organizations to donate pork locally. Organizations are then reimbursed for their donation up to $1,000. Working with Bud’s Custom Meats in Riverside, the Washington County Pork Producers were able to donate 355 packages of ground pork to nine different food pantries in Washington County.
Vice President for the Washington County Pork Producers, Jennie Greene, tells KCII that the decision to help local food pantries for the second-straight year was a no-brainer. “I think as pork producers, we’re super proud to go beyond the farm and make an impact. We take pride in supporting our community, and I think participating in this program aligns directly with that.”
