At approximately 7:00 p.m. Saturday, the National Weather Service Quad Cities office issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Washington County in the KCII listening area until 8:45 p.m. This wall of storms would lead to warnings in Keokuk, Iowa, Johnson, Jefferson, Henry, and Louisa counties as well.

Spotter-indicated threats with with these storms included penny and quarter-sized hail in Victor in Iowa County. Additionally, 48 mph wind gusts were reported in Ainsworth. In Washington County, one inch of rainfall was recorded in Washington, Brighton, Kalona, and Wellman, while three-quarters of an inch fell in Crawfordsville.

Three members of the KCII Severe Weather Action Team provided live coverage on the air. Had the power gone out, coverage would have continued with KCII’s back-up generators. The one to count on for up-to-the-minute severe weather coverage is AM and FM KCII.
