Tuesday is a busy day on the sports calendar for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks with three teams in action. The Golden Hawk boys golf team opens the playoffs hosting a Class 2A sectional meet in Kalona. The Hawks are 29-15 this year after a 171-237 win over Durant in Kalona Monday led by medalist Greyson Gingerich and medalist runner-up Drew Schlabaugh with matching 41s. The Hawks are ranked No. 19 in Class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association. They have a team avearage of 170 per nine with a 166 low and a 347 average on 18 with a 343 low. Individually, Drew Schlabaugh, Gingerich and Ace Peck have 44 averages per nine with Denver Nelson and Bryce Henry at 45. For 18 it’s Schlabaugh’s 82 leading the way. Schlabaugh is ranked No. 36 in Class 2A this week.

Mid-Prairie is joined today by No. 22 Central Lee, No. 21 Mediapolis, No. 26 Iowa City Regina, Tipton, Van Buren, West Branch and No. 24 West Liberty. There are 10 golfers ranked in the top 100 of 2A in today’s field. Action starts at 10a.m. and continues all afternoon and evening in Kalona.

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls golf and soccer teams continue the home stretch of their regular seasons tonight. The Golden Hawk golfers are at Wahkonsa Country Club for a River Valley quadrangular with West Branch, West Liberty and the home Wilton Beavers. The Hawks are 34-4 overall after a 188-212 win at Durant Monday where Madi Davidson was meet medalist with a 44 and Elliot Debler was runner-up with a 47. The Golden Hawks are ranked No. 7 in Class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association. Mid-Prairie has a team average of 199 per nine holes with a 189 low and a 377 average on 18 with a 370 low. Individually, Robertson’s 48 and Davdison’s 49 averages lead the way per nine with Davidson, Robertson, English and Debler all with averages on 18 under the century mark at 91, 95, 96 and 97 respectively. In this week’s 2A poll, Davidson is No. 24, Robertson is No. 34, Debler is No. 41 and English is No. 50. Action starts at 2:30 at Wahkonsa Country Club.

The Mid-Prairie girls soccer team hosts rival Williamsburg tonight in Wellman. The Hawks are 7-4 on the year after a shut out win 5-0 over Northeast Goose Lake at home Friday, led by two goals from Zoey Curtiss and Elise Gingerich and one for Gabby Geno. Ruth Witthoft had a clean sheet with one save. On the season, the Hawks have been outscored 24-23 in total with 157 shots, 87 on goal, 40 corner kicks, seven assists and 149 saves with an 86% save percentage. Individual leaders include Gingerich with a dozen goals, she and Curtiss with two assists each and Niva Helmuth with 103 saves and an 84% save percentage.

Williamsburg is 3-9 this year after a 3-0 loss to Mount Vernon Thursday. The Raiders have been outscored 29-13 in total this year with 72 shots, 57 on goal, 13 corner kicks, three assists and 159 saves with a 61% team save percentage. Individual leaders are Baylie Von Ahsen with six goals, Kaori Imdacha with two assists and London Cook who has allowed 29 goals this season. These two teams met last year in Williamsburg with the Raiders scoring a 2-0 victory. Action starts tonight at 4:30p.m. at the Wellman Rotary Soccer Complex.
