The season came to a close for local girls’ golf teams at sub-regional tournaments Friday. Winfield-Mount Union senior Lily Freeman and Columbus sophomore Kinlee Brown nearly earned a spot in next week’s postseason action but just missed out on advancing from Class 1A Region 5C at Dearwood Golf Club in New London.
Both Freeman and Brown finished with a 34-over-par round of 106, but that score would prove to be one stroke shy of tying for sixth place and moving on to the regional finals. WACO was led by sophomore Morgan Meyer’s 125.
