The National Weather Service Quad Cities Office has issued flood warnings for portions of Keokuk and Iowa counties in the KCII listening area that are in effect until at least Saturday afternoon.

At 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, the North Skunk River stage near Sigourney was at 15.1 feet and rising. This river is expected to rise above the flood stage to a crest of 20.8 feet early Friday morning. The flood stage is 16 feet, and at 18 feet, water affects most agricultural land near Sigourney. Water levels are expected to fall below the flood stage Saturday morning.

The second warning comes from Iowa and Benton counties, where flooding is expected in the Iowa River near Marengo. As of 9 a.m. Tuesday, the river was at 12.7 feet. The flood stage for this area is 15 feet. Water levels are projected to rise above the flood stage to a crest of 16.2 feet early Friday afternoon. This warning is in effect until further notice. 

If encountering flooded roads, anyone in the affected areas is reminded to turn around and that most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles. KCII will monitor the situation and have more information as it becomes official.
