For the second-straight game to start the season, Sigourney softball blanked its opponent and earned the win via the run rule. The Savages handled Keota Wednesday night by a final of 12-0 in three innings.

In a game heard on the KCII3 Stream, Sigourney took advantage of eight walks and timely hitting to get the victory. First-inning singles from Josephine Moore, Carly Goodwin, and Dani Aller fueled a six-run frame and gave the home team a lead they wouldn’t surrender. Amiya Smallwood led the Savages at the plate with three RBI’s thanks to a 1-2 evening, while Aller added two. Sigourney notched two more runs in the second and four in the third to send everyone home early and improve to 2-0 in the young season.

Goodwin shined in the circle once again for Sigourney, fanning nine Eagles and allowing zero runs or walks. The lone hit from the Eagles came from their pitcher, Kennedy Jackson, who shot one into right field in the second. Defensively, Jackson went two and two-thirds of an inning, giving up four hits, while the Eagles committed four errors.

After dropping the opener, the Eagles are back at it tonight against Iowa Valley. Sigourney meanwhile heads to English Valleys Friday.
