The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team meets the Tipton Tigers today for a River Valley Conference doubleheader. Mid-Prairie is 1-1 on the season after a 16-4 win in five innings over Mount Pleasant Friday where eight of the nine in the Golden Hawk order scored a run, seven of the nine had a hit and six of the nine an RBI. Through two games, the Hawks have scored 21 total runs and are averaging nine hits per night. Individually at the plate, Kyla Karnes has a pair of multi-hit nights, Sophie Miller, Kadence Grout, Brylee Gearhart, and Tessa Bombei each have one. Grout is the team leader with five RBI. Dakota Mitchell leads with three runs scored. Grout has thrown all 11 innings with 12 runs and 12 hits allowed, four earned runs with five strikeouts.
Tipton split a doubleheader with Clinton to open the year Thursday. The Tigers have scored 17 runs on 19 hits with a .333 average, .500 on base and .491 slug. Individually, Storm Snyder is hitting .750 with five hits and four RBI. In the circle, Madison Meier and Snyder have combined for 13 inning with a 4.67ERA, two WHIP, .262 opponent average with 17 hits, 10 earned runs, eight walks and five strikeouts. The Golden Hawks have won 19 of the last 23 in the series including sweeping last year’s two games by a combined 27-3 score.
