Both the Mid-Prairie boys and girls of summer were on the diamond Thursday night, splitting their pair of River Valley Conference contests. For the third straight night, the No. 5 in Class 2A Golden Hawk baseball team matched up with the Tipton Tigers and the Hawks completed the season sweep by a 5-3 count. Tipton jumped on top with a pair of runs in the first, and the Hawks answered with a solo tally in the bottom half. Things stayed 2-1 Tigers until the fourth when Mid-Prairie pushed across three, then added an insurance run in the fifth to make it 5-2. A late Tiger rally plated one in the seventh before the Mid-Prairie ‘pen closed the door. The Golden Hawks had four hits, all singles, and capitalized on four Tipton errors. Tatem Telfer continued his torrid pace, going three for three with a pair driven in and a run scored. Bowen Burmeister, Dylan Henry and Landry Gingerich each drove in a run. The Hawks were out hit 7-3 in the game, as they couldn’t get much going against Wilton’s Ali Walker, who tossed a complete game, three hit, seven strikeout shut out at the Hawks.
