The Lone Tree Lions kept up their undefeated start to the softball season Friday night by defeating Pekin 13-1. 10 runs in the second inning not only gave Lone Tree a commanding lead but would allow the Lions to eventually end the game after three innings.
With the win, Lone Tree improves their record to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference. The Lions are playing a pair of games this weekend at Central City.
Lone Tree would not have the same success on the baseball diamond, allowing 12 runs in the second inning as part of a 24-2 loss to Pekin in a game that ended after three frames.
Sophomore Emmett Burke did provide a hit, one run batted in and two runs scored for the Lions, but they still fall to 0-2 in the Super Conference North and 1-4 overall. Lone Tree baseball returns to action Monday against Burlington Notre Dame.
