The No. 5 in Class 2A Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team scored their fourth straight win Friday, 8-2 over West Branch on the road. A four run first propelled the Hawks to the early lead and they added on with single runs in the third, fifth, sixth and seventh innings to force the Bears to play catch-up all night. The Golden Hawks out hit the Bears 8-6 and took advantage of eight walks and four West Branch errors. Bowen Burmeister and Brock Harland each had two hits with Burmeister driving in three and Harland two. Harland also scored a run. Joe Hall and Blake Swart added one RBI each on a hit. Dylan Henry and Landry Gingerich also added a hit. Brady Weber scored twice, Tatem Telfer, Henry, and Landry and Grayson Gingerich each scored twice. Burmeister was the winning pitcher, going four frames, giving up two hits, one run, walking three and striking out nine. Carson Pence and Conner Wiles finished the game out of the ‘pen. Mid-Prairie is now 8-1 on the year, 6-0 in the River Valley ahead of a Monday doubleheader against the Wilton Beavers.
