A pair of Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball juniors have started the season hot and are named to the Prep Baseball Report Iowa High School Baseball Preseason All-State list.

Mid-Prairie outfielder Blake Swart is on this year’s All-State list. Swart is hitting .263, with a .600 on base percentage. He has racked up 14 walks, third in 2A, 10 runs scored, five hits and two RBI out of the lead-off spot for the Hawks. Swart is a perfect six of six in stolen bases this season, and seven of seven on defensive chances in the outfield.

Golden Hawk pitcher Tatem Telfer also made this year’s All-State list from PBR. He leads Mid-Prairie on the mound with a pair of wins, 28 strikeouts, 10th most in 2A, and an .029 opponent average, second lowest in 2A. He has surrendered one hit, two unearned runs and 12 walks in 11 frames with a 1.24ERA. Telfer is hitting .429 at the plate with a .529OBP, .786 slug, 12 total hits, 14 driven in, sixth in 2A, and 10 runs scored with six walks and two homers, second in 2A.

The Golden Hawks are 8-1 on the year and ranked No. 5 in Class 2A.
