keota-eagles-2

The Keota Eagles could not overcome North Mahaska in a pair of games on the diamond Monday. Keota baseball scored in the top of the first inning to take the initial lead on the road, but North Mahaska picked up a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and would stay in front the rest of the way, going on to win 6-3.

Eighth-grader Blake Baker led the Eagle lineup with two hits, one run scored and one run batted in. Ashton Galindo had a hit and two RBI, while fellow junior Billie Kindred and senior Tanner Waterhouse each scored once and had a knock.

Senior pitcher Cole Kindred allowed just two earned runs on five hits and two walks and rung up eight strikeouts in four-and-two-thirds innings as the starter, but he would still suffer the loss as Keota falls to 1-4 in the South Iowa Cedar League and 3-5 overall.

The Eagle softball team trailed all night in a 11-1 loss to North Mahaska in six innings. Keota remains winless on the season. Both Eagle teams are back in action tonight against conference rival Colfax-Mingo.
