The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team supplied some fireworks Monday night in a River Valley Conference doubleheader against the Wilton Beavers at Carr, Vincent, Gould Field in Kalona, unfortunately for the girls in black and gold it wasn’t enough to avoid a sweep. The Hawks were beaten in both ends of the twin-bill by scores of  7-3 and 10-2. In game one, Wilton pushed one across in the first to lead early, then the Hawks came to life, with one in the third and a pair in the fourth to take a 3-1 lead. The Beavers responded in the top of the fifth with a five spot to take the lead back at 7-3 and collect the win. Game two saw Wilton throw the first punch with four in the first, Mid-Prairie countered with single tallies in the first and third to get back within 4-2 but the Beavers delivered the knockout blow with a five-run six and one more insurance run in the seventh to finish the scoring.

The Golden Hawk highlights came from the junior duo of Brenna Jehle and Dakota Mitchell who each launched their second homers of the year deep into the Kalona night. The two wins move Wilton to 8-4 this season, while the Hawks fall to 3-5.
