Washington Judge Shawn Showers has been picked from a group of eighteen applicants to fill the vacancy on the Iowa Court of Appeals. The vacancy will occur when Chief Judge Bower retires on July 1st. Chief Judge Bower of Cedar Falls was appointed to the Iowa Court of Appeals in January 2012. A slate of five nominees from the eighteen applicants were sent to the Governor. Including Judge Jeffrey Bert, Bettendorf; Judge Alan Heavens, Garnavillo; Judge Amy Moore, Ames; Judge John Sandy, Spirit Lake; and Judge Shawn Showers, Washington. The Governor will have thirty days to make the appointment.
