The Washington County Board of Supervisors discussed an EMS Advisory Council recommendation at their meeting on Tuesday. Supervisor Marcus Fedler gives more information on the recommendation, “So I sit on that board, Jim Lester our Chair sent out a recommendation that we talked about at our last meeting. The council is asking or recommending that Washington County designate EMS as an essential service in Washington. Which then changes, according to code section 422D it changes the tax. Kind of makes it like a fire district, but county-wide. The recommendation for the amount is fifty cents for a thousand, that according to our numbers that we have, would generate around $740,000 a year.” The Supervisors acknowledged the letter of recommendation from the EMS Advisory Council and will begin the next steps to get the recommendation put on the November ballot.
