Three days of fun are approaching in Brighton this week, as the annual Whoopee Days celebration returns this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This year’s theme is “Brings the kid out in you!”

Based on community feedback, Friday, June 14 will include a carnival for kids from 4-10 p.m. The Cruz in Car Show also starts at 4. Additional day one activities include a silent auction in the Brighton Community Center, the Bill Riley Talent Show, a cornhole tournament, and live music.

President of the Brighton Chamber, Chuck Emry, tells KCII that the buzz is only amplified on Saturday. “The fifteenth will be a packed day with the mud run and the car show, talent show contest. Just a whole list of stuff that is going to be happening.” Saturday kicks off with the Whoopee Walk at 7 a.m., parade registration is from 8:30-9:30, and the 114th Whoopee Day Parade is at 10. The carnival continues in the afternoon and evening, plus contests and games. Food trucks are available throughout the day, with live music in the park as well as CaManders Bar & Grill at night.

As part of the tradition, Sunday will be the community church service in Brighton City Park at 10 a.m. In the event of rain, this will be moved to the First Church of God.
