The Hillcrest Academy Raven softball team came up short Monday on a road trip to Mediapolis 9-6. The Ravens scored one in the first for the early lead, only to see the Bullette bats counter with four in the bottom half for the 4-1 lead. The Ravens tied the game at four through one and a half, but MEPO got a pair in the bottom of two and one more in the third to go up 7-4. Two Raven runs in the fourth shrunk the deficit to one but, Mediapolis got one each in the fourth and sixth for insurance to finish the win. The Bullettes out hit the Ravens 11-7 in total, including four triples. Hillcrest earned two walks and Mediapolis committed two errors in the field. Maddy Carter and Avalynn Prall led MEPO with a combined five hits, three RBI and two triples. Carter was the winning pitcher, going the distance allowing eight hits, four earned runs, four walks and nine Ks.

Hillcrest got two hits each from Delaney Shaw and Malia Yoder. Shaw drove in four. Yoder scored three times. Claire Withrow, Morgyn Nafziger and Stavia Miller each had one hit. Nafziger scored twice and Marryn Boshart once. Yoder threw six innings in the circle, allowing 10 hits, six earned runs, four walks and nine strikeouts. During the night, Yoder eclipsed the 200 strikeout milestone for her career. The Ravens were 3-6 after the loss as the Bullettes improved to 5-2.
