The Washington Demon softball team suffered a rare hiccup Wednesday night with an 8-2 loss at Centerville. Washington scored a run in the top of the first inning to take the initial lead, but Centerville responded with three runs in the bottom half.

The Big Reds added to their lead with three more runs in the third inning and two more in the fifth, and the Demons would only score one more time in the game despite having 10 hits as a team.

Sophomore Leighton Salazar had two of those hits, including a triple, on her way to scoring a run. Colbie Greiner stroked a double and also had two hits, and the freshman scored the other run for Washington, which falls to 16-4 with the loss.

The Demons had their next conference game against Fairfield postponed from yesterday due to inclement weather. Washington baseball also had to postpone its game with Fairfield to July 2nd. Demon softball, ranked seventh in the state in Class 3A, will be back in action tonight against Marion.
