As planting wraps up, Iowa agricultural producers are reminded to file their crop acreage reports. They can make an appointment with their local Farm Service Agency (FSA) office by the deadline on Monday, July 15.
An acreage report documents a crop grown on a farm or ranch, its intended use, and location. Producers will also need to provide the number of acres, planting dates, producers shares, irrigation practices, and acreage prevented from planting, when applicable. An accurate report that is filed on time can prevent the loss of benefits.
Crops that are not planted by July 15 must be reported no later than 15 calendar days after the planting is completed. Producers who acquire additional acreage after the deadline must report them no later than 30 days after the purchase or acquisition. To reach the Washington County FSA office, call 319-653-2138.
