The Highland Huskies picked up a third straight victory on the softball diamond last night by knocking off Winfield-Mount Union 11-0. Highland took the lead with a run in the second inning but truly seized control with six runs in the third, eventually going on to win the game after six frames.

Peyton Brun had a team-high three hits, including a double, and scored two runs for the Huskies, while fellow senior Sarah Burton hit a home run as part of a two-hit night where she also scored twice.

Sophomore Mackenzie Davis scored a pair of runs for Highland, while senior Madison Beeson joined Davis in having two hits and two runs batted in each. Junior Lilly Barre also homered on her way to three RBI and two runs scored, while eighth-grader Maya Singbeil drove in a pair.

Senior Grace Prybil was perfect in the circle while pitching all six innings and picking up eight strikeouts for the Huskies, who improve to 16-8 overall and 11-3 in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.

Meanwhile, Winfield-Mount Union falls to 5-18, including a 4-11 record in the Super Conference North. While the Wolves next face Columbus tonight, Highland is back in action this evening against Hillcrest Academy.
