The Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball team hosts the BGM Bears Tuesday in Kalona in a Class 1A District 12 Semifinal. Hillcrest is 16-4 on the year, 9-2 champions of the North Division of the Southeast Iowa Superconference. They survived the first round with a 5-4 win over HLV Saturday. This season, the Ravens hit .273 as a team with a .420OBP and .363 slug with 168 runs on 148 hits, 117 walks and 148 strikeouts. Three hitters in the Hillcrest order are over .300 led by Rowan Miller at .421 with 23RBI. He and Liam Schrock are tied for the team lead with 24 total hits. Schrock has a team best 29 runs scored. Mason Helmuth is also over the .300 mark this year. On the mound the Raven staff ERA is 2.93 with a .222 opponent average on 115 hits, 55 earned runs, and 110 strikeouts. Liam and Lawson Schrock and Rowan Miller are a combined 10-0 with a 2.80ERA.

BGM is 17-7 this year, they were 9-5, third in the South Iowa Cedar League East Division. They got by Wapello Saturday 5-3. On the year, the Bears hit .263 as a team with a .418OBP and .319 slug with 159 runs on 155 hits, 136 walks and 129 strikeouts. Two Bear batters are over .300 led by Beau Burns at .400 with 28 total hits. Dominic Coleman has 34 runs scored and Kieran Sacrora has driven in 22. On the mound, the BGM team ERA is 3.44 with a .237 opponent average on 145 hits, 75 earned runs, 85 walks and 157 strikeouts. Cael Coburn is 6-3 with a 2.80ERA. These teams haven’t met since a 2017 playoff matchup where the Ravens scored a 4-3 win. Action starts tonight at 7p.m. on the campus of Hillcrest Academy in Kalona.
