While registration for the 2024-25 school year is still weeks away, the Columbus Community School District reminds parents and guardians of the medical and dental requirements for students.
Per the Iowa Department of Public Health, students entering 7th, 9th, and 12th grades this fall must receive certain vaccines and/or screenings. Incoming 7th graders need Tdap and Meningococcal vaccines. Seniors are required to get the Meningococcal vaccine as well. Students entering their freshman year must complete a dental screening no earlier than one year prior to enrollment and no later than four months after enrollment. Vaccines can be administered at Louisa County Public Health by appointment at 319-523-3981.
Any student that does not meet these requirements by the start of the school year will be exempt until they do so. With questions about the medical and dental requirements, contact Jenny Conaway at jenny.conaway@columbuscsd.org or 319-728-6218 ext. 1218.
