It’s win-or-go-home time for Washington Demon baseball as the playoffs begin tonight with a battle against Central DeWitt in the Class 3A Substate 5 quarterfinals that you can hear on KCII.

Washington is 5-20 this season but has gotten solid seasons from a trio of hitters. Caleb Zieglowsky leads the team with a .358 batting average, four doubles, a home run and 15 runs batted in, while fellow senior Luke Beenblossom is hitting .333 and sophomore Kael Williams has batted .338 and scored 23 runs.

The Demons will be dueling with a Central DeWitt squad that is 22-12. Jacob Maher is one of many elite hitters that has the Sabers dreaming of their third trip to the state tournament since 2019, as the senior is hitting .463 with 15 doubles, three homers, 30 runs scored and another 33 RBI.
