U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley spoke with KCII News about how Farm Bill negotiations are going and their progress, “The progress is the House of Representatives has put a bill out, in a bipartisan way. It moves in the direction that I think the new five-year farm bill should move. But there hasn’t been any movement in that direction in the United States Senate Committee on Agriculture, and I don’t think there will be much movement. So I think we’re going to have another one-year extension of the 2018 farm bill.” The farm bill sets national policies for nutrition, agriculture, conservation, and forestry. It provides nutrition assistance to millions of Americans through programs such as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), which typically gets the largest funding share of any program in the farm bill.
