Leighton Salazar continues to rewrite the record books for Washington Demons softball. The sophomore now owns a new single-season school record for stolen bases with 36.

Salazar picked up the record-setting steal in a playoff loss to Central Lee Saturday, moving past by one the previous mark set by Lucy Libe back in 2008. Last season, Salazar set single-season team records in hits, runs and batting average on her way to Class 3A second-team all-state honors.

Salazar now has 88 stolen bases in her career, as well as 187 hits and 154 runs scored. The sophomore is well on her way to another all-state selection after leading Washington with a .524 batting average, 66 hits and 54 runs scored and helping the Demons go 24-12 this season.
