This week’s Jessica Yoder & Sarah Bigley with Kalona Realty Athletes of the Week are Sigourney baseball and softball players Issac and Ella Bruns. The brother and sister delivered two of the biggest hits of the season for the Savages Tuesday night.

Issac’s three-run home run against Burlington Notre Dame was a key part of a 4-2 victory in the Class 1A Substate 6 final that sent Sigourney baseball to the state tournament for the first time in school history.

Meanwhile, Ella’s base hit in the 11th inning allowed Savage softball to walk off against Wapello for a 2-1 victory in the Class 1A Region 8 finals, sending Sigourney back to state for a second straight season and a third time in the last four years. Congrats Issac and Ella!
