Iowa was met with more heavy rains in the last week. According to the latest report from the U.S. Drought Mitigation Center, not even “abnormally dry” conditions were present in the State.

The KCII listening area has seen ample precipitation as well. Based on data from Iowa State University, 24.48 inches of rain have already fallen in Iowa City this year, compared to 24.03 in all of 2023. Fairfield has also exceeded its totals from last year, with 23.95 inches of rainfall reported in 2024. While the numbers for Washington are only available through May, the City had received nearly 60 percent of last year’s total prior to June.
