More than 100 Iowans were awarded a scholarship last week from the Iowa Health Care Association Foundation to advance their health care education. Among the recipients were three employees from Pleasantview in Kalona.

After around 240 applications were evaluated by the Foundation’s Board of Directors, 110 scholarships were awarded, totaling $300,000. Kirsten Albright joined 60 others to receive the John W. & Kimberly D. Grubb Registered Nurse Scholarship. Jaqueline Lucas was awarded the same scholarship, which is valued at $4,000 and is given to individuals pursuing an RN degree.

The third Pleasantview employee to earn a scholarship was Vickie Bender, who was awarded the Care Initiatives Director of Nursing Leadership Scholarship. Only twelve of these scholarships were given, and they are for directors of nursing, assistant directors of nursing, or registered nurses interested in those two positions.
