The sixth biggest sports story at Mid-Prairie last year highlights Golden Hawk Shooting Sports.

Marksmen and women from the Golden Hawk Trap Club at Mid-Prairie had a big summer, qualifying for the 2024 State Trap Championships in Cedar Falls.

The Golden Hawks competed at the senior singles trap championships. Lone senior Milo Sieren led the way in the senior/varsity division with his 174 round to place 695th, Quinn Callahan shot 153. In the senior/junior varsity ranks Keatyn Myers round of 186 led the way, finishing 47th, followed by Maddie Sieren and Landon Kuenster with matching 168s, Parker English 167, Allie Whetstine 161, Dylan Humphrey 160, Tate Bombei 159 and Rylee Cady 149. The JV team finished 35th out of 83 total teams.

The Hawks sent a team to the intermediate singles portion of the contest. Top score in the intermediate/advanced division came from Morgan Northup with a 170, to finish 245th. Other scores included Kylar Kiefer 157, Lane Janecek 151 and Nickolas Peck 66. Mya Brenneman led the way at the intermediate/entry level with a 145 to place 233rd. Other scores included Lara Brenneman 132 and Ellyana Hahn 82.

The Hawks sent a dozen shooters to compete at State in 2022. We move into the top five of our countdown next week, shining a spotlight on Golden Hawk Girls Wrestling.
