The state of Iowa is not recommending that you cut down your ash trees to stop the Emerald Ash Borer. Lisa Louck with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says the only county that the bug is currently present in is Allamakee County. Even though some cities and private citizens are cutting down trees Louck says the DNR is not recommending it because the borer might not be here for five to ten years. Instead Louck says people should be planting a diversity of trees. She says it might come a point when ash trees need to be cut down, but we are not there yet.
