The top story from the last year in Hillcrest Academy sports highlights three Raven track stars performing on the State’s biggest stage.
Sophomores Owen and Rya Scott and freshman Marie Yoder all got their chance to compete on the Blue Oval at Drake Stadium in Des Moines for the Class 1A 2024 State Track and Field Championships.
Owen Scott qualified for State in a pair of events, winning the long jump at the State Qualifier meet and finishing second in high jump.
Rya Scott stamped her spot at State in four different events, winning the 100, 200, and 400 events at the State qualifier and advancing to Des Moines as a performance qualifier in the long jump.
Marie Yoder earned a bid to State by winning the State Qualifier 3000.
At Drake Stadium, Owen Scott was third in long jump and 14th in high jump. Rya Scott placed sixth in the 100, 15th in the 400, 19th in the 200 and 24th in long jump. Marie Yoder was 16th in the 3000.
