After a spectacular softball season, three Highland Huskies are earning some of the highest honors in the state, as junior Lilly Barre and seniors Sarah Burton and Peyton Brun have been named all-state in Class 1A by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

Burton receives all-state honors for a second time and is a second-team choice after finishing her final season with a .438 batting average The senior also led Highland in multiple categories, putting up team highs of 39 total hits, 48 runs scored and 35 stolen bases and also coming up with nine doubles, two triples and four home runs.

Brun is a third-team selection after she hit a team-best .458 and had a team-high 29 runs batted in, swatting nine doubles and two homers along the way.

Barre receives an honorable mention after a stellar summer, scoring 32 runs and batting .366 with eight doubles, three triples, and two home runs of her own. The trio of all-state standouts led the Huskies to 19 wins in 2024.
