The Washington County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday. On the agenda was the continued discussion of designating EMS as an essential service, and holding a public hearing. After discussion of not being presented with a full budget, Supervisor Jack Seward Jr. had this to say on the matter, “But what I’m saying is, if we are going to make it an essential service we don’t have to have the budget ahead of time in order to do that. All we have to do is say we are going to make it an essential service, we are going to make the levy the max and we are going to use less of it. To say we are going to hold it up just because we haven’t seen the final budget, I think is not the way to go. I think we should just go ahead and put it that way at the general election, everybody in the county will be at the general election.” Based on the conversation, the Supervisors approved keeping the matter on the ballot in November.
