camp-explore

Kirkwood Washington County Regional Center Camp Exploration focused on the exciting career areas of interior design, auto mechanics, and welding. Over the course of three days, middle school-aged campers delved into their career area of choice gaining hands-on experience that might play a role in shaping their future aspirations. In the Interior Design camp, students learned the fundamentals of creating spaces, selecting color palettes, and arranging furniture layouts. Students created mood boards for a room they want to make over, and presented their design to their peers. They also had the opportunity to visit Washington Lumber and Home Center to see samples of flooring, paint, and cabinetry. In the Auto Mechanics and Welding camps, students got to explore the world of technical skills and craftsmanship. In Automotive camp, students learned about tools, car maintenance, and changing tires, and began to appreciate the detail required to keep their future automobiles running. In Welding camp, they learned to safely weld metal pieces together, creating many creative designs to take home, including a guitar stand, garden decor, and Pokemon card holder.
