The Sigourney school district is gearing up for their second first day today. According to a statement from Sigourney Superintendent Kevin Hatfield, released through the district’s social media pages, classes at Sigourney were originally supposed to begin Friday, August 23rd, but were cancelled due to a facilities issue in the elementary building. Hatfield shared that while the elementary building was given approval for student occupancy, by the Iowa Fire Marshal, there were non-fire related code needs to address involving the doors to the boiler room. Work on the project was completed Friday. Monday classes have a 1:30p.m. early dismissal.
