Utility work in one southeast Iowa town is prompting a multi-day shut down. According to information released by the City of Wellman through their social media channels, Alliant Energy will cut power to portions of the city during two scheduled time frames this week. Rural residents south of Wellman and those on the southwest side of town will be affected Tuesday at 10a.m. All other residents will be affected Wednesday at 10p.m. Each outage is scheduled to last roughly three hours. Alliant Energy issued phone calls to alert residents to which outage will affect them based on the address on their account. The work is to install a new set of underground lines.
