The WACO Warrior football team made a long trip to West Des Moines worth it Saturday by defeating Coon Rapids-Bayard 66-46 at Valley Stadium.

WACO trailed 18-13 at the end of the first quarter but scored three touchdowns in the second period to take a 31-18 lead into halftime, and they would outpace the Crusaders in a high-scoring game from there, matching their four second-half TDs with five of their own to hold on for the win.

Warriors quarterback Clayton Miller had a huge game throwing the football, completing 14 out of 23 pass attempts for career highs of 339 yards and a whopping seven touchdowns.

It helped that fellow senior Isaac Rich also had a monster day at wideout, with five of his six receptions going for TDs and racking up 134 receiving yards. Senior receiver Gage Samo also had a big game, catching six passes for 113 yards and a score.

WACO senior running back Louden Huisenga was his typical brilliant self, carrying the football 17 times for 95 yards and two touchdowns while also scoring on a 68-yard catch and run.

On a day where they piled up 453 total yards of offense, the Warriors come away with their second victory of the new season. WACO starts district play in their next game Friday when they take on another 2-0 team in Iowa Valley.
