The Washington Demons competed at the Bob Brown Cross Country Classic yesterday hosted by Regina High School at the Iowa City Kickers Complex. Washington finished fourth in the girls’ team scoring and seventh as a team on the boys’ side.
Junior Andrew Rees had the top individual finish for the Demons, taking eighth in the boys’ race with a time of 17 minutes 46 seconds. Senior teammate Tyler Alderton was only one spot and two seconds behind him, while freshman Parker Tschantz and sophomore Ethan Hotchkiss also ran top-45 times.
Junior Iris Dahl paced the Washington girls with a 10th-place time of 21:34, with senior teammate Lauren Horak only two seconds back of her in 11th.
Sophomore Emma Horak and seniors Quincy Griffis, Alyvia Anderson and Kendall Hinrichsen also made their way into the top 50 for the Demons, who will next race this coming Thursday at the Ron Hunerdosse Invitational in Fairfield.
